What 4 zones means
This panel takes 4 monitored points.
A zone is one monitored point. A shutter contact is a zone. A door contact is a zone. A motion detector covering a room is a zone. Each one is a point the panel watches separately from the others.
So the zone count is the number of points a panel can take. It is the figure to compare when you are counting up the shutters, the doors and the rooms on a premises, and the reason two panels with the same wiring can look very different on price.
